Finally, a sports team with an appetite for (graciously donating) delicious meat.

The Kansas City University Wildcats women’s basketball team is hosting a lovely giveaway game Friday, its season opener.

As you may have guessed by the headline and photo, bacon is most certainly involved. In fact, 300 pounds of bacon is involved.

The first 1,000 fans through the gym gates, as the Wildcats face the Tennessee State Tigers, will each receive six bacon slices.

This isn’t the Wildcats’ first foray into food-related handouts. It projects to be its most successful, however.

“We have tried free pizza in the past as well as several other student promotions,” Randy Peterson, sports information director for the team, told the Kansas City Star.

“As you know, students can get pizza anywhere. But, as a student, you have to go out of your way to get your hands on some bacon.”

Obtaining bacon can be taxing for students — Peterson is right. And it undoubtedly has greater mass appeal than cemetery plots and playoff beards.

OK, now that you’re all worked up over bacon, take some time to view this Epic Meal Time video aptly called “Boss Bacon Burger.”

You will either drool or vomit. Or both.
