Ryan Tannehill’s wife forgot her massive gun in a rental car

- January 15th, 2014

We’ve all been there.

You know, when you’re using a rental car in a foreign city and forget a piece of luggage in your back seat.

Well, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s wife didn’t forget any luggage.

No, Lauren Tannehill forgot a gun.

A really big gun.

An AR-15.

TANNENHILL

Earlier this week, a Reddit user posted a photo of the gun, saying one of his friends had stumbled upon the weapon while checking out the back seat of a rental car they were using at an airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

A Broward sheriff’s report later confirmed the gun is legally registered to Tannehill.

Many questions spring to mind.

Mainly, how do you forget a gun that size!?

And, was it loaded?

We may never find out the answers to those questions, but we did learn one thing.

Don’t mess with Mrs.Tannehill.

(H/T to Deadspin for the find)

Where is the massive gun? All I see is a compact M-4 Style AR-15 sporting rifle. Far from massive, it’s actually a pretty compact firearm.

Keaton. Stop being so dramatic and get educated. An AR-15 a not a “massive gun.” It’s a compact firearm, small in caliber and in length.

Typical media drama. It isn’t a ‘Massive Gun’ . Nice sporting rifle and scope :)

REALLY – someone leaves that in a public place and all you idiots can say is “it’s not massive”????

    “And, was it loaded?”

    - it’s pretty clear there is no magazine… and she doesn’t strike me as a “One in the chamber” kind of gal.

Ryan Tannehill is the Miami Dolphins QB. They actually live in Florida. Fort Lauderdale is not a foreign city, it’s actually closer to home for them.

An ar 15 is not that large a rifle, im in canada and i know this, though judging by the choice of furniture on the rifle, she has rather good taste in accessories

Real smart gun owner there. IQ of a stick.

Come on, who forgets any weapon at all?? The danger that poses if that gun fell in the wrong hands is very severe. She should not be allowed to handle or transport guns regardless of their size.

Not massive, and does not appear loaded as the magazine is not in it. Probably a .223 cal, woopdey doo, would it have made the news if it was a hunting rifle in 308 cal? Not likely, or if it was Joe Public who left it? Just because it looks scary.

  17. Owen | January 16, 2014 at 10:35 am

No, it was not loaded. You can see that there is no magazine in the rifle.

Chris; not every country has our rediculous gun laws, and at no point is it a requirement to remove a bolt from a restricted firearm while in transport.

Small in size yes, not necessarily small calibre though. Depends on the model. Having said that in the military this is known as making a gun “safe” bolt in,trigger pulled, mag out. Am concerned that the ejector cover is open though. Should have closed that. My two cents.

OK fine, so the gun isn’t necessarily massive, but look, she’s almost a head shorter than her husband, and she’s hardly built like a Mack truck. So, yes, it probably IS massive…for her.
