We’ve all seen some high school football trick plays that look bananas. But you’ve got to see this kid.
This clip of the Sherwood Bowmen (Oregon) — posted on YouTube this week and reported on MaxWire National Blog – goes beyond the regular monkey-business most teams try.
The off-the-wall approach seems to be working for them — the Bowmen have gone 9-0 this season.
They call the move in question ‘The Wrecking Ball’ (not to be confused with Miley Cyrus’ sledgehammer-licking video).
It’s a fake extra-point attempt devised by Sherwood head coach Greg Lawrence and his staff.
Here’s where it gets silly:
“One of our other senior linemen asked if he could come off like a monkey, pick the tee up, and hop off the field like a monkey,” Lawrence said. “Our special teams coach said ‘Sure, why not? Let’s do it.’”
