Punch sends U.S. college football player flying

- September 20th, 2013

Watch enough football and you’ll see players knocked silly a hundred different ways.

A crushing blindside block, a hard hit on a ball carrier, a quick right uppercut to the chin.

Wait, what?

Clemson tackle Isaiah Battle (wow, is that an appropriate name or what) connected with a perfectly-timed punch on North Carolina State’s Jarvis Byrd late in Thursday’s U.S. college game. The quick punch floored Byrd and sent Battle into his, well, battle stance.

No point in describing it further, you’ll see it on the video below. The TKO happens at around the 1:55 mark.

And, yeah, Battle got an earful from Clemson coach Dabo Swinney before being ejected. But Clemson still won the game.

If football doesn’t work out for Battle, I’m thinking he might just have a future in boxing or MMA. Some pro fighters would be jealous of the dude’s quick, powerful punch.
