Michelle Wie poses for Golf Digest in skimpy dress … with a trophy

- August 4th, 2014

Wow! Michelle Wie’s trophy looks so shiny.

No wonder editors wanted it featured in an upcoming issue of Golf Digest.

What a prize the U.S. Open trophy is.

A stunning glow. Simply beautiful.

OK, I’ll stop now.

The 24-year-old LPGA star teased fans with a recent photo she tweeted out.

The news angle here? Nothing, really.

Although Golf Digest received mass amounts of criticism earlier this year when Paulina Gretzky appeared on its cover wearing skin-tight pants and a sports bra – something that drew the ire of some LPGAers.

“It’s kind of the state of where we’ve always been. We don’t get respect for being the golfers that we are,” two-time major winner Stacy Lewis told The New York Times. “Obviously, Golf Digest is trying to sell magazines. But at the same time you’d like to see a little respect for the women’s game.”

The editor-in-chief of the magazine barked back.

“Sports figures, celebrities and models have appeared on Golf Digest covers since the magazine’s beginning,” editor-in-chief Jerry Tarde said on the magazine’s website.

“Paulina ranks at the high end of the golf celebrity scene today, and she has a compelling story to tell. She also might get some new people interested in the game.”

In the end, it looks like the magazine found an even better solution: A gorgeous, young professional who also happens to be at the top of her sport.

Any complaints? I didn’t think so.
