Another candidate for worst own goal of the year

- October 25th, 2013

Poor Ben Bishop.

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews scored the tying goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning with less than two minutes to go in the game Thursday night.

And he didn’t even have to shoot the puck.

Toews was credited with the goal after Lightning captain Martin St. Louis backchecked and poked the puck away at centre ice.

Lightning defenceman Matt Carle threw it back to teammate Radko Gudas, who misplayed the puck and it redirected off his skate and past Bishop with 1:49 to go.

You can add this to the list of goalie gaffe’s over the years and the two own-goals below from earlier this season.

Roberto Luongo

Jonathan Quick

Goal against the Canucks was no “goalie gaffe”. Luongo was playing as he should have.
