Canucks’ Bieksa makes amazing kick save against Panthers

- March 16th, 2014

Sunday’s matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers was supposed to be a showdown between Roberto Luongo and Eddie Lack as the two netminders faced one another for the first time since the former was dealt by Vancouver before the trade deadline earlier this month.

Well, Kevin Bieksa was having none of it and showed both of them up.

The Canucks defenceman made the save of the game on what otherwise would have been a highlight-reel goal by Panthers blueliner Colby Robak.

A shot from the point deflected high and the puck ended up right in front of Robak as he skated deep into the zone. Robak batted it out of the air toward a wide-open cage.

Bieksa then came up with the stunning, mid-air kick save inches from the goal line to preserve a 3-2 lead.

Florida wound up tying the game, but the Canucks won 4-3 in a shootout.
