Frankie Corrado is not a household name. In reality, it’s a stretch to think he’ll be a household name at the peak of his hockey career.
Corrado is a prospect in the Vancouver Canucks pipeline who is described as an “offensive defenceman with upside.” He’ll likely play in the NHL, but doesn’t project to be the second coming of Bobby Orr, if you know what I mean.
So, it’s not a total surprise that a young fan (see video below) recently got his first name wrong — “Are you James Corrado?” — when the two met at the Hockey Hall of Fame:
Corrado, a 2011 fifth-rounder, plays it cool — although the conversation is certainly awkward. Especially when the youngster, who looks about 13, asks for Dale Weise’s number.
More than anything, I’m puzzled that the dude requests Dale Weise‘s phone number when the Canucks boast legitimate stars in the Sedins and Ryan Miller.
Then again, according to the toque-wearing Montreal Canadiens fan, Weise is a “beauty.” At least that’s settled!
Kudos to the kid for having the courage to approach a budding pro athlete, though. Seriously, at his age I would have U-turned to my mom at the sight of Corrado.
(Thanks to theScore for bringing this lovely exchange to our attention.)
