Capitals’ Erat spears Rangers’ Boyle where sun don’t shine

- January 20th, 2014

Washington Capitals winger Martin Erat hit a new low Sunday night.

New York Rangers forward Brian Boyle’s, uh, manhood, paid the price.

After chasing the puck on a dump-in, Boyle fell after making contact with the boards. The puck rolled between his legs, which he  snapped shut in an attempt to force a face-off.

It was a move he would soon regret.

Erat, in what was either a completely absent-minded or cold-blooded move, tried to jam the puck loose and hit Boyle where the sun don’t shine.

Ouch.

Erat received a penalty for slashing — if you could call it that — on the play.

It appears, however, he is not completely without remorse.

“He was kind of like, ‘I didn’t mean to,’ ” Boyle told Bleacher Report. “He just probably regretted it after.”

Let this be a lesson. Don’t go jamming your stick willy nilly. Somebody might get hurt.
