Ducks winger Corey Perry scores goal of the year so far

- December 10th, 2013

Some of us are mere mortals. Some of us are Corey Perry.

A week ago, I would have said that this Crosby dangle was the goal of the year so far.

That’s until this happened during Monday’s game between the Anaheim Ducks and New York Islanders.

Step around Calvin de Haan. Trip to his knees. Corral the puck. Fire it between Travis Hamonic’s legs past goaltender Anders Nilsson.

Goal. With 1.7 seconds left in the period.

??? Granted I would have been on my face rather than continuing to shoot in that situation, but really, with the skill and talent and what we’ve seen, that goal wasn’t really that spectacular??

Pretty sweet goal. I think Calvin de Haan should be given credit as he also ‘assisted’ in Crosby’s amazing goal by playing a part.

Who is Anthony Vasquez-Peddie and what does he know about hockey? More of a fluke goal than anything special. Some credit for staying with the play but that’s what they are taught and paid to do. My opinion – if the goalie had made the save neither the attempt nor the save would have been on anyone’s “highlight of the night” package…
