Fan lets Jeremy Roenick punch him in the face

- July 23rd, 2013

Jeremy Roenick has made a habit of getting hit in the face.

This past weekend, the former NHLer got in a shot of his own.

On Monday, a YouTube video surfaced of Roenick punching a fan in the face at a golf tournament after the man asked him to do so. Here’s the caption on the video:

Roenick has made a game out of this on the Dan Patrick Show, but he’s usually the one taking the punches. On Saturday, when he was walking off 17, we yelled “Jeremy please punch our friend in the face!” and he lunged, but didn’t throw the punch. On 18, as he was walking to his drive, we asked him again, and he motioned for my friend to come over. We hopped under the rope and this happened. We’re hoping to make this into a tradition, at least until my buddy develops CTE.

Roenick is normally the one taking blows to the head. No, I’m not talking about the dozen or so concussions he’s claimed to have suffered in his playing days.

Apparently, it’s become a running gag on The Dan Patrick Show, a syndicated sports radio and television show in the U.S. of which Roenick is a frequent guest, for the 43-year-old to take punches to the face.

Here’s a video of him taking a punch at a golf tournament in a video dated July 2011:

Here’s a video of him taking a shot on The Dan Patrick Show earlier this year:

And for old time’s sake, here’s Derian Hatcher breaking Roenick’s jaw in 1999:
