L.A. fans hope Gretzky has major impact on Stanley Cup final

- June 10th, 2014

Let’s face it, Los Angeles is not a hockey town.

Despite the fact that the Kings are playing in the Stanley Cup final for the second time in three years and the team boasts one of the most talented rosters in the NHL, the City of Angels is all about the NBA’s Lakers.

Even Wayne Gretzky couldn’t turn things around in North America’s second-biggest sports market.

But, hey, at least the Great One is still a big name in the big city. Even if he hasn’t worn the Black & Silver since 1996.

Aja Dang of Fox Sports went to Venice Beach in L.A. to gauge the excitement of, er,  Kings fans during the Cup final … and what they hope to see from Gretzky in the series.

What are “hockey shoes” and where do I get ‘em?

Also, Darryl Sutter? Sean Penn?

Good to see the people of LA know as much about hockey as the people at Fox.

they know as much about hockey as the average canadian knows about baseball..
and having selective clips taken from 3-4 dudes is not representative of a whole city to say the least. I’m sure i could find 4 people in Montreal that are just as oblivious to hockey as those 4 in LA are..
