Los Angeles Kings sniper Jeff Carter was placed on injured reserve Friday thanks to an upper-body injury.
Unless you have an inside Kings source, you were probably informed of that nugget via the media.
In other words, you found out the same way Kings coach Darryl Sutter did. The third-year bench boss was not pleased to learn about his leading scorer’s status in a post-practice scrum.
“I didn’t know we lost him. We have several guys injured,” Sutter, clearly in a crusty mood, said when answering a reporter’s question about losing Carter to the IR.
“Where do you get your information from?” Sutter added. “If it’s somebody in the organization that told you … then you go talk to them. We haven’t been told anything.”
“I’m extremely disappointed that information is given to you before it’s given to us.”
It then got real quiet and real awkward.
Until Sutter began ranting to the assembled media about how “very disappointed” he is.
The conversation finally took a new direction about two minutes after the topic was broached. Thank God.
Speaking of the crusty side of Darryl Sutter…
