Missing hockey? Check out this dandy goal from the Champions Hockey League

- August 23rd, 2014

Hands up if you’ve heard of Swiss hockey player Vincent Praplan.

Nobody? OK, let’s meet him.

Praplan gave us a reason to pay attention when he pulled off a shinny-like goal Friday in his first game for Kloten, a club in the 44-team Champions Hockey League.

The 20-year-old winger’s crafty stickhandling display, which includes a twirl and two passes to himself, precedes a dandy backhand deke on the goaltender.

Pretty.

The third-period marker — Praplan’s second of the night — brought Kloten to within a goal of their opponent, HV71, in an eventual 3-2 loss.

Drafted by the North Bay Battalion last summer, Praplan, who has not been drafted by an NHL team, put up 53 points in 61 games in the OHL in 2013-14.

As one user so eloquently put it when describing Praplan’s goal on Reddit, “Damn. That’s some Xavier Laflamme s—.”

Damn, indeed.
