Rangers and Flyers fans duke it out in lengthy brawl

- April 30th, 2014

Section 209 of the Wells Fargo Center turned into a sea of madness Tuesday night.

A rather lengthy brawl — at least by stadium standards — broke out in the stands during Game 5 between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers.

The shoving and punching went on for nearly a minute. Security seemed to be as helpless as the Blueshirts were on the ice that night.

Phone cameras, of course, captured the incident from a number of angles.

A few solid pokes were landed. Nobody was TKOed.

Deadspin has the story behind the dust-up. Apparently a Rangers fan was laying down some pretty heavy smack talk. After ushers failed to calm him down, security tried to remove him. He resisted and flailed his arms, hitting a Flyers fan in the process. That’s when all hell broke loose.

Looking back, Tuesday night represented good ol’ fashioned hockey, with a brawl in the cheaps, 67 combined hits and a third-period dust-up between New York big body Brian Boyle and Philly’s Adam Hall.

Unfortunately, we can’t report a clean sweep.

Boyle clearly got the better of Hall in the below tilt.

Game 7 goes tonight at Madison Square Garden.

And, as Samuel L. Jackson once said…
