When skates make contact with players’ faces, usually there are gruesome results.

Zack Kassian was one of the lucky ones.

During second period action on the road in Anaheim, the Vancouver Canucks forward was chasing Ducks defenceman Hampus Lindholm around the net when teammate Tom Sestito came barrelling in and got a piece of Lindholm. Sestito went flying in the air and his skate caught Kassian in the face.

Kassian, who missed the rest of the game and is considered day-to-day, appeared to take the boot of the skate to his face and not the blade.
