Zdeno Chara decapitates goalie in ‘banned’ commercial

- March 13th, 2014

We knew Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara had a killer slapshot, but this takes things to a new level.

Warrior Sports rolled out an ad this week, one they claim was banned by the NHL, for their Dynasty AX1 hockey stick. It shows Detroit Red Wings goalies Jimmy Howard and Jonas Gustavsson watching a movie preview featuring Chara hitting a netminder in the mask with a shot so hard it takes the poor soul’s head clean off. The B’s captain then raises his arms in victory as the rink explodes behind him.

Howard closes by saying, “That mother f—er is crazy.”

Given the bleeped-out line and, you know, the murder by slapshot, it wouldn’t be surprising if the league actually axed it.

It’s a followup to the ‘clean’ version of the commercial, which itself is absolutely nuts.

The earlier cut, released in late February, shows Chara hitting the netminder so hard with a puck it causes a nuclear explosion. Chara, of course, survives the apocalyptic disaster and raises his arms in victory as the arena is engulfed in flames.

No one seems to realize the time on the clock is 6:66 and the score is 66 to 0
