The Seattle Sounders are the best team in MLS at the moment.
But that didn’t stop them from making another big signing.
Xander Bailey, 18, from the Make-a-Wish foundation, signed with the MLS club midweek, and was practising with the team by Friday.
He was rubbing shoulders with U.S. national team stars like Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin, but the West Virginia native and hardcore Sounders fan was in for quite the surprise.
Head coach Sigi Schmid named Bailey to his starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s exhibition against Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.
And the reception he got by the Sounders fans was incredible.

On top of some fans wearing jerseys with his name, Bailey got to pump up the team in the pre-game huddle and took a shot on Tottenham’s American goalie Brad Friedel.
Bailey was then subbed off to a loud round of applause from the 55,000 fans at CenturyLink Field, and got a hug from Dempsey capping off an amazing gesture from the Sounders.
