U.S. soccer starlet Hope Solo calls out ESPN analyst

- December 11th, 2013

U.S. soccer star Hope Solo got slighted by a former soccer legend-turned-ESPN analyst.

And she’s pissed.

Solo took to Twitter with a scathing response to Julie Foudy’s appearance on the network to talk about her own picks for US Soccer’s All-Time Best XI team, which was named to honour the program’s centenary.

And as you’ll probably guess, Foudy picked Solo’s predecessor, Briana Scurry, as her choice for top goalie.

Solo’s response was priceless (and a tad bitter):

And, Foudy’s eventual response:

This isn’t the first time Solo has short-circuited over not being picked as the top dog. She famously flipped out at the 2007 Women’s World Cup when she was benched in a crucial semifinal game against Brazil in favour of  Scurry.

They lost the game 4-0 and she was exiled after publicly blasting then-coach Greg Ryan and the veteran goalie after the game.

The picks for US Soccer’s All-Time Best XI team will be announced next week.

Hope Solo should stop being so infatuated with herself. All she does over and over again is show what little class she has.

Julie Foudy and all the other 99ers are amazing. If HS could keep her mouth shut people might soon forget all the dumb things she said/done. She’s about as stable as a rickety old bookshelf. The team may be better off without her. Bring on Barnhart!

Hope is the female soccer equivelant to Jeremy Roenick. Good athlete, talented player, thinks too highly of oneself, and would be better thought of, if/when they be quiet and let others talk for them.
