Eugenie Bouchard is promoting healthy eating … kind of

A screen grab from Bouchard’s new Pinty’s commercial.

It didn’t take long for Pinty’s to pick up Canadian tennis darling Eugenie Bouchard as its latest spokesperson.

Pinty’s Delicious Foods rolled out a commercial during the Aussie Open featuring Bouchard partaking in a bit of home cooking. It was shown while 4.4 million Canadians tuned in to watch the 19-year-old’s semifinal loss to No. 4-ranked Li Na this week.

After pocketing $550,000 in Melbourne, it appears the young tennis star has even more to look forward to on the home front, with advertisers looking to cash in on the excitement surrounding Canada’s latest icon.

“Off the court, it’s about living well,” Bouchard says in the ad below. “Pinty’s eat well, helps me live well without compromise.”

Wait. What?!

Now then, let me be the first to say that I’m huge fan of Pinty’s wings, specifically the Whiskey Mustard.

But we also have to throw a red flag seeing as Canada’s tennis queen is promoting healthy living while holding a box of pizza and chicken nuggets.

Unless mom was lying to me all of those years, something’s not lining up here.

While I’m not buying any of what’s she’s saying (but still totally buying the grub), good on Bouchard for cashing in on her success.

And, take it from me, try the wings.

Whoa, hold on a minute there with the remark that suggests pizza is junk food. 4 main food groups are found in pizza. Just because people like something doesn’t mean it’s junk food!

It’s processed food, loaded with salt and sugar. I doubt it’s part of her healthy eating regimen.
