This yo-yo champion has mastered tricks you didn’t think were humanly possible

- August 11th, 2014

My sister knows a guy who set a Guinness World Record for solving a Rubik’s Cube 5,800 times over a 24-hour period.

That’s insane, and so is this.

An 18-year-old “unassuming dude from California” won the World Yo-Yo Contest over the weekend in Prague, Czech Republic.

No big deal, right? That’s what I thought, until I stumbled upon this YouTube video of Gentry Stein.

Stein, whose all-black attire (including a single glove!) makes him look oh-so-mysterious, appears to be a magician of the yo-yo world.

I mean, I could “sleep” my yo-yo and “walk the dog,” but my trick bag was very empty. And I certainly couldn’t do more than two tricks in succession.

With loops, spins and pseudo-dance moves in his tool belt, Stein’s routine puts all of our teenage yo-yo careers to shame.

Absolute shame.

(Thanks to For The Win for bringing this to our attention.)
