Cycling fashion isn’t neon Spandex anymore

Picture 6Used to be that you couldn’t credibly use the words “cycling” and “fashion” in the same sentence.

But these days the bike couture scene is bursting at the seams with designers who are crafting bike-friendly clothes.

At least, that’s according to this New York Times article.

That means I should probably invest in some fashionable new cycling duds for my ride to work so I can ditch the racing kit — though I’ll miss the nervous look on my colleague Drew’s face every time he sees me in Lycra tights.

That said, I don’t think I’ll go quite as far as the model in the photo here …

    Try wearing the backstitch nylons and see what happens. I’d stick w/tights.

    Can’t wait.. Actually the way women cyclist ge mowed down they should have a few machine guns mounted on the helment.

    Anything that gets us past the pretentious “I’m really training for the Tour de France” look will be appreciated. Stifling the laughter is hard on my blood pressure.
