Although I tend to agree with Paul's premise, I would like to point out the cruise ship company's responsibility for the safety of the passengers. Over the last several years there has been a dramatic growth in the cruise industry. Bigger ships like Royal Caribbean's Allure and Oasis of the Sea have taken a big chunk of business from smaller ships. To keep up with the competition The Carnival Cruise Line has had to invest a lot of money to try and lure passengers to their ships. There has been a lot of press concerning 'cutting corners' by Carnival. Safety should be paramount. Bad press equals bad word of mouth which equal decrease of sales which eventually leads to bankruptcy. Even Royal Caribbean admits that the industry has reached its limits in the size of ship they can construct. If situations like this Carnival Triumph one persists i.e. cutting corners all of the cruise industry will suffer and eventually people will find other ways to amuse themselves. Then all the ships will be stranded. Someone has to be accountable for negligence and the safety of passengers who pay premium vacation dollars.

A radio station in Toronto had on a well know maritime lawyer who has done alot of cases and yes he even said 'they are alive' and he wuld not take case. The cruise company has given them so much for inconvience and voucher after voucher and another cruise fully paid, that with that and the fine print in the contract of tickets, she has no hope. If lost a limb, caught a terrible virus, or died, different story......yes a delicate flower.

Honestly, my name is not important, I don't know. Needless to say, losing a loved one is very traumatic, and we, blinded by emotion, may demand that pound of flesh...and we would wrong.
Thnx, MNINI

If, in fact, this woman committed suicide (?) because she felt she failed at her job, and/or was being ridiculed on the world stage, I can only assume she was suffering more serious problems. Was this the act of a HEALTHY mind?

And, yes, she may have FELT embarrassed, but WHO was she? let's keep in mind, that when she took her own life, (?) no one outside the hospital knew her identity...we didn't have a name t'll AFTER the suicide. (?)

At the time of her death (three days after the gag), the story had pretty much run its' course...her suicide (?) gave it legs!

Had she only waited a few more hours, the Social Media "feeders" would have been dining on something or someone else.

This woman's family is suffering a loss, and destroying the lives two innocent (and I believe they are) young people, won't ease the pain...but it may, temporarily, satisfy the hunger of the twitterverse hounds.

I guess we can agree, to disagree, on this one, Arnna...

Thnx. for your comment.

Wonderful read about these two DJ's. Thank you for standing up for them. Like you said prank calls have been around forever. I believe it is just an untimely coincidence. and ultimately I don't see a need for a huge investigation just look at the recording they got from this call. If there is any reason to prosecute them (which I don't see there being) any major evidence would be right there.

Yes…people do get ‘punked/pranked’ all the time and even though it happens all over the world, it is very rare that one ‘prank’ gets instant worldwide attention - and that the victim of a ‘prank’ has to live through their embarrassment and humiliation on the world stage.

And this woman was ‘pranked’ during the course of her job, a job where first and foremost she has a duty of care to her patient. And even though she only put the call through, my understanding is that she was a very dedicated nurse and she may well have felt that she ‘failed’ her patient, her co-workers and the hospital by doing that.

She may well have been mortified that because she failed to stop the call, that the privacy of her patient was compromised….that would have been bad enough with a ‘regular’ patient but add to the mix that it was a VIP patient, she would have been humiliated on many levels. It’s bad enough when any of us screw up at work but at least it is not shared with the world. We have the luxury of annonimity and thus privacy.

‘Support MC and Mel’? Fuck them. The whole point of their ‘prank’ was to find out information about the Duchess and possibly even speak to her.

The woman is sick and in a very delicate stage of pregnancy for god’s sakes. She’s probably worried about the health of her baby and what would have happened if they had gotten through to her? Do you think that she would have chatted with them and had a jolly good giggle about it all? And have all the details shared with the rest of the world?

I would have thought that there would have been more solidarity among women and mother’s against what these two twits were trying to do. The only difference between the Duchess and any other pregnant woman is that the rest of the world couldn’t give a crap about any ‘regular’ person.

For any woman reading this that had issues with a pregnancy - were there any DJ’s wanting to try and find out all the details about your experience when it was happening? No….because you (and the rest of us) are just regular people but if someone did start sharing your details around, you can’t say that you would not have been upset about it……especially as you were living through it.

No-one has the right to cause ANY pregnant woman ANY undue stress that may damage her or her unborn child’s health and these two just did not give any consequence to that.

So screw ‘em!

I'm just wondering why those 2 idiots did not admit to who they really were at the end of the conversation. I disagree - no they are not responsible for J's death of course not, but pranks sometimes do have consequences and it is not the first time someone takes their own life after a radio host plays a prank or says something stupid. The radio voice attracts maybe what 50 - 100,000 listeners of that maybe what 2% are not the most stable. Definitely this nurse had other issues but that was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. If the Aussie would have admitted to who she was..maybe just maybe that nurse would be alive today. That being said, I think she would have taken her own life sooner or later on another issue.
