Mott’s Poll on Accused Terrorists

- August 29th, 2010

We’re running a poll on our website  http://www.themotts.ca/  right now that was prompted by the arrest of three young Canadians this past week.  The trio’s accused of plotting terrorist acts against this country…  and one COULD be accused of traumatizing the judges on “Canadian idol”.  If you haven’t seen this, check it out.   Canadian Idol Terrorism Suspect

So, wada ya think folks… a future Michael BOMBle ?

Sorry, I digress…. back to the poll.

As is our way in this free and democratic society, the lads are presumed innocent til proven guilty… their crimes at this point simply alleged.  But what if, years down the road, (the wheels of justice move slowly in the Great White North) they’re found guilty?   Then what?  Here’s the poll.

What should the penalty be for treasonous, terrorist acts against Canada?

5 to 10 years.0.0%
10 to 25 years (life)3.8%
Rest of natural life.50.0%
Death.46.2%

Thank you for your vote!

As you can see, most respondents, to this point anyway, have managed to get in touch with their inner Taliban.

Can you imagine?  Locking someone up for rest of his life for plotting to wreak death and destruction upon us!  OMG!  And the death penalty!  GASP!

This is Canada, a compassionate nation… we’re a civilized people, devoid of barbarism or anything close to it!  It’s something we’re proud of…and unfortunately, something our enemies count on.

P.S.  This poll, to state the obvious, is totally unscientific…and most respondents so far are just a bunch of rednecks, like me, who have a yearn’n for some real justice.

To register your vote in this poll go to http://www.themotts.ca/ .  While there check out the column by Terrorism expert David Harris.  He has some words of warning for his fellow Canucks.

Y’all have a nice day.

Listen to The Motts (Paul and Carol) weekdays… 11 til noon at… http://www.themotts.ca/

Paul- voted on your website, my vote called for Death, nothing fancy, no taxpayers money wasted, etc.
A little morbid, but what the heck, time to stop being nice.

  2. David Newland says:

Paul, you don’t distinguish between getting caught plotting terrorism, and actually committing it. With most crimes there’s a big difference in both perception, and sentencing.

  3. Vardit says:

    Okay.. here comes the extremist:):)
Jail term for a long, long time and deport parents even if alleged terrorist born here. Revoke citizenship for his family and send em packing. Why do I say this? Because even terrorists are very close to their families and they don’t want them hurt. This homegrown terror business will only get worse, not better. Something has to be done to frighten them off. Can’t think of anything better than I have recommended.

  4. Kevin in edmonton says:

There is no difference between plotting an act of terrorism and actually committing, both should be punishable by the death penalty if found guilty. All parties should be put to death in a public form as to discourage future attacks. There families should then be investigated to see if they knew about any of it, if they did they should be declared persona non grata and returned to there country of origin at that countries expense. If they are Canadian and they do it they should be stripped of Canadian citizenship and deported to what ever country will accept them, if no country exists they should be jailed as terrorist sympathizers None of these persons should ever be allowed entry back into Canada for any reason, ever…

I hear ya, Dave and I do understand the difference. What I’m suggesting is, the crime of plotting should carry the same penalty as committing…at least life behind bars. Under our current laws this isn’t possible but one can always hope for a change…and some real justice. By the way…nice lid!

While I don’t agree with everything you say, Kevin, I understand the anger…and do agree we have to come down harder on these people.
