People who advise others about their travel plans should be truthful about their advice. Broad statements such as “travel outside of Canada can be very expensive if hospitalized” should be avoided as there is a great distinction between travelling to the United States and other parts of the world. For example: in the Philippines, any hospitalization is FREE.
A doctor or medical care in the Dominican Republic is much, much less than any treatment received in the U.S. The same goes for Colombia, Cuba and Mexico. Your insurance needs should be based on your destination requirement and not broad based such as “outside of Canada”.

@Dave777 But what if you’re a businessman (or woman, I suppose?) doing business in East Asia?? (or some other area known for ‘sex tourism’)

You probably wouldn’t be taking your wife / girlfriend / husband / boyfriend / etc. along with you on a business trip to a country that may also happen to be known for it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s why you’re there!

I actually prefer including my partner, as I love my wife of 22 years….seriously, why leave someone out if you love them?

Beware if your partner is going to sex trade destinations. If you regularly leave the partner behind, be the marriage is on the rocks.

Don’t worry about your travel insurance paying a claim. If it is a small claim (under $2,500) it will be paid. If it is a major claim (over $3,000) it will not be paid due to some technicality. But at least you will know you helped support Canada’s insurance Industry.

well if a delivery guy can bring pizza to your house and turn a profit that is a lot more work than bringing breakfast to your room when they already run a restaurant.

Someone needs to trim some fat somewhere and not from the bacon.

Love and companionship can build good relationships but you have to get out and try not just sit behind the computer or phone. Travel will provide an oppurtunity to explore and learn your partners culture, likes and dislikes. Challenge your learning curb try new things!
