Bieber “proud” to have hand in Call Me Maybe’s U.S. success

- June 17th, 2012

Justin Bieber is glad to give back given all his success.
The eighteen year-old Stratford, Ont., native told QMI Agency in an interview on Sunday afternoon that he’s proud to have had a hand in getting his manager Scooter Braun to sign fellow Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen to a U.S deal due to his love of her hit, Call Me Maybe, which he heard on the radio when he was back in the country over the Christmas holidays.
“I told everybody that I loved the song and Scooter foung out that she wasn’t signed outside Canada,” said Biebs at a Toronto hotel leading up to the June 19 release of his new album, Believe.
“To be able to give back and give her that platform that she needed to break outside of Canada was really good. And she’s so talented and such a nice person that she deserves it.”
Bieber, his girlfriend Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and members of pop band Big Time Rush also made a lipsynching video of Call Me Maybe that became a YouTube hit.
“We were just messing around and we were just listening to the song and someone just put on the video camera so we just kept making multiple videos and then Alfredo (Flores a friend) edited it together and we just put it up – it was just fun,” explained Bieber.
Jepsen is now opening for Bieber on his Believe tour which starts in September.

Justin Bieber: “I don’t like …yes men.”

Justin Bieber says it’s easy to stay grounded when you’re on top of the world.
Just have the right people around you.
“I have a great family that support me and love me through everything and I think it’s just about making the right decisions and being a good person and treating people with respect,” the Stratford, Ont., native, 18, told QMI Agency during an interview Sunday afternoon in a Toronto hotel with his grandfather nearby.
“My two best friends, Ryan and Chaz, they live in Stratford and I go and seem them and they fly out and see me. And they don’t care about anything that I ‘m doing. They just care that I’m their friend. I don’t like to just have yes men and people around me like, ‘Oh, yeah, you’re great,’ all the time. I like people to be like ‘You’re messing up, you just need to check yourself.’”
Bieber’s new album, Believe, is in stores June 19 and his Believe tour starts in September.
