The Canadian Country Music Association Awards are fired up about Johnny Reid.

The Scottish-born singer leads this year’s CCMA Awards pack with eight nominations, organizers have announced. Reid is up for Male Artist, Interactive Artist and Record Producer of the Year, along with the Fans Choice Award. His seventh full-length Fire it Up is vying for Album of the Year, while its title track earned nominations in the Single, Video and Songwriter categories.

B.C. singer Dean Brody is hot on his heels with seven nominations, including Single, Video and Songwriter of the Year for Canadian Girls, and Album of the Year for Dirt. Brody is also going up against Reid in the Fans Choice, Male Artist and Interactive Artist races.

Also competing for those three awards is Albertan Gord Bamford, who has a total of six nominations. He’s also up for Record Producer of the Year, while his song Is It Friday Yet? earned nods in the Single and Songwriter categories.

Other multiple nominees this year include Jason Blaine, who is up for four awards, while Terri Clark, The Stellas and Hey Romeo each have a trio of nominations. See www.ccma.org for a complete list of nominees.

The 2012 CCMA Awards will be handed out on Sept. 9 in Saskatoon, with ceremonies broadcast live on CBC. Reid, Bamford, Brody and Clark are slated to perform on the show, along with Chad Brownlee, Jason Aldean, Paul Brandt, George Canyon, Eric Church, Deric Ruttan and Miranda Lambert with Pistol Annies.
