A new album demands a new haircut.
So says Toronto R&B-pop star Shawn Desman, whose latest disc, Alive, comes out Feb. 5, and thus he’s currently sporting a new ‘do.
“I feel like everytime I come out and people see me, I have to put out this new crazy hairstyle, it’s my thing,” said Desman, who’s got a mini-Mohawk of sorts this time around, in an interview with QMI Agency.
“So in between the albums, it’s cool, because I just do whatever. I just let it grow. I feel like just putting out an album, it’s not enough. You want people to be interested in what you’re doing and you want to get them involved. Also, it’s for me, it’s almost challenging myself too like, ‘What am I going to think of next?’”
Desman, whose Canadian tour in support of Alive starts Feb. 7, explains the difference between his last striking haircut and his new one.
“The sidewalk that I had before (my last album 2010’s Fresh) was really really short so it went from one side of my head to the other side. So this one’s like long. You know what I call this one? It’s like Astro-boy. This is my ‘Astro-boy’ look.”
Like the Japanese Manga cartoon character?
If you say so, Shawn.
