Scott Weiland challenges concertgoer to fight

- March 11th, 2013

It seems for Scott Weiland, Saturday night is alright for fighting.

The now ex-Stone Temple Pilots frontman went toe-to-toe with a heckler in the crowd at a show at Irving Plaza in New York two nights ago, challenging him to a duel, GrungeReport notes.

It’s still a mystery as to what exactly set him off, but whatever it was, he was not a happy camper:

“So you’re f***in’ pulling that f***in’ like gun s**t off on me?” Weiland began. “Then come up and meet me one on one, man. You play tough guy from an audience behind a barricade…”

Weiland responds to firing from Stone Temple Pilots

- February 27th, 2013

UPDATE: Scott Weiland has responded to his firing from Stone Temple Pilots with a statement just as short and abrupt as the memo of his ouster.

In the carefully worded paragraph, he claims he had no idea:

“I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday.”

Earlier today, STP sent out this:

“Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”

The enigmatic 45-year-old singer, who left the band in limbo for years after battling drug problems, recently announced a solo tour, in which he would be playing material from STP’s first two studio discs, 1992′s debut “Core” and 1994′s “Purple.” Although pure speculation, the news may not have gone over well with the rest of the group.

Weiland was also given a pink slip by Velvet Revolver back in 2008.

Does this open the door for another go with the Velvets, who are still without a singer? In an interview last month with Classic Rock magazine, guitarist Slash made it seem highly unlikely after Weiland hinted at a reunion.

“I think he’s trying to pull off that trick of trying to get something else going on and we’re not buying it,” Slash told the mag.

Let the soap opera go on.
