About Wellington Square
I am a multimedia reporter at the Expositor in Brantford, Ont., assigned to the city hall beat. I started blogging about municipal politics while working at our sister paper in Woodstock, the Sentinel-Review. I have a lot of opinions and this is the space where I’ll be sharing most of them as appropriate.
The life of a city hall reporter means I attend a lot of meetings, read a lot of reports and engage with city staff and politicians on a far more frequent basis than many other people living and working in Brantford. This provides a unique perspective on civic life in the city.
Some times, a thought that crosses my mind isn’t best suited to become a full-fledged column in print (which is also named “Wellington Square”). Other times, there may not be enough space in our local pages to print every such thought. The blogging format also lends itself to a writing style and frankness that may not be appropriate for print but is right at home in this space.
Hence, Wellington Square, the blog.
It’s a space for the opinion, analysis and occasionally, the irreverence, that doesn’t end up in the printed pages of the Expositor. I am its principal author, however it’s set up to allow for the occasional post from my colleagues.
